AEI’s policy objective is to ensure that Australian education and training is recognised as world-class and is globally connected.
To help achieve this objective, AEI provides a set of core activities free of charge to Australia’s international education and training industry. AEI calls these activities its ‘Basic Products Set’.
AEI also provides a range of services on a fee-for-service basis. These services include:
-
consultancy services provided offshore
-
the Market Information Package
-
Country Education Profiles
-
qualifications assessment services
-
international education and training events provided in Australia.
Government guidelines require that services be provided on a fee basis when:
-
the group of beneficiaries is narrow and identifiable
-
the information is highly specialised and generally of use only to the beneficiaries
-
it is possible to develop fees and charges for the use of the information products by the beneficiaries
-
restricting access to the information products to the narrow group of customers is not inconsistent with the Government’s policy objectives
-
the Government does not require the information products to be provided free of charge.
Generally, costs are recovered in full. Partial cost-recovery occurs only where a part of the services requested falls clearly within AEI’s Basic Products Set, or where full cost-recovery would significantly reduce use of the services.
AEI services have been costed with the goal of recovering only the costs of providing them.
Fees have been structured to be equitable, efficient, predictable and administratively simple to collect. The fees and details of the services are set out on the AEI website.
