TESOL Peru Call for Papers: Deadline 28 February 2007 (Expired)
TESOL Peru is calling for papers for its 15th Annual Convention, ‘Shortening Global Distances by Making English Learning Easier’, which will take place in Tacna, in southern Peru, from 31 July to 2 August 2007. The deadline for submission is 28 February 2007.

Deadline for Malaysian Public Services Department Study Loan Applications - 28 February (Malaysia)
The Public Services Department (JPA) has given students until 28 February to apply for study loans which they can now only do after completing their first year of study in Australia.

China’s New Strategy to Improve the Vocational Education Sector (People's Republic of China)
In November 2006, the Chinese Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the National Development and Reform Commission launched the State Pilot Tertiary Vocational Institutions Capacity Building Plan. The Plan aims to address capacity building in China’s vocational education sector by focussing improvements to 100 pilot tertiary vocational institutions and 1,000 pilot secondary vocational institutions over three years from 2006.

Study Abroad Alerts have Consequences for the Sector (People's Republic of China)
Since 2003, the Chinese Ministry of Education has issued 34 Study Abroad Alerts for 15 countries, including two for Australia. The majority target individual private providers, while others provide general warnings to students and agents. If Australia is to maintain its image as a committed provider of quality education with China – our largest source country of international students – then it is important to consider the consequences Study Abroad Alerts can have on education sectors as a whole.

G’Day New York Australia Week Celebrations (USA)
G’Day USA: Australia Week celebrations expanded to New York for the first time in 2007. AEI North America hosted a forum that featured science and research collaboration between the US and Australia, and hosted three tables of key education representatives at the Penfolds AAA Black Tie Gala.

Australian Ambassador to Vietnam hosts Endeavour Awards Presentation Ceremony for the 21 Awardees (Vietnam)
To promote the Endeavour Awards scheme and Study in Australia in Vietnam, an event was hosted by the Australian Ambassador on 19 January 2007.

Chinese and Australian Embassy, Beijing Holidays in 2007 (People's Republic of China)
Throughout 2007, there are 18 official and non-official Chinese holidays and 13 Australian Embassy holidays. Australian providers may wish to consider these when organising business trips to China and other working communications.

Contributions Sought for Next Edition of Peru TESOL Magazine  (Peru)
TESOL Peru invites contributions for its forthcoming Electronic Journal, Peru TESOL Magazine.

ADB Loan to Aid Teacher Training (Vietnam)
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will loan US$34 million to Vietnam to support secondary school teacher training and professional teacher development.

Opportunity to Present at ‘Aussie Education Specialist’ Agents Quarterly Meetings (Expired)
AEI South Korea holds quarterly training sessions for its 58 ‘Aussie Education Specialist’ agents. At each meeting, two Australian institutions are offered a valuable networking opportunity by making presentations to the group on broad specified topics. The next meeting is Friday, 1 September 2006 on the themes hospitality and business.

Call for Participation in Study in Australia Seminars Conducted by AEI Chile and AEI Brazil (Expired)
AEI Chile and AEI Brazil have released the 2007 calendar for their monthly Study in Australia seminars for students. This is a call for institutions and their nominated representatives to take part in these seminars.

Opportunity to Participate in an Education Exhibition in Pakistan (Expired)
The DAWN group, Pakistan’s reputed print media is organising an education exhibition with support from Austrade, Pakistan in February 2006. AEI Pakistan, which has recently re-established its presence in Pakistan, will participate.

Free Trade Agreements – Call for Submissions (Expired)
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is calling for public submissions to assist in identifying particular market access issues and/or any other trade and investment impediments affecting Australia’s exports to and investments in Chile and Japan.

National School Offers Cultural and Educational Links to Australian Schools and Universities (Expired)
Karangturi National School, Semarang is seeking linkages with Australian schools implementing the IGCSE curriculum and with Australian universities. The partnership may include student and teacher exchanges, fellowship events and competitions. Karangturi is the old private school in Semarang with about 20 to 25 students continuing their higher education studies overseas.

Australian Education Institutions Encouraged to Participate in Central European Education Mission in March 2007 (Expired)
Austrade/Australian Education International (AEI) Poland encourages Australian education institutions to take part in the 2007 Australian Education Mission to be held in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary from 5 to 14 March. Registration for the mission, which consists of student seminars, mini fairs and agent workshops, closes on 26 January.

Fourth International Conference of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Minia University 'Preserving Linguistic and Cultural Identity in the Age of Globalisation' (Expired)
The Faculty of Foreign Languages, Minia University, Egypt will hold its Fourth Annual International Conference from 23 to 25 April 2007 with the theme of 'Preserving Linguistic and Cultural Identity in the Age of Globalisation'. The conference organisers invite scholars and researchers to participate and/or present.

Thailand Seminars - Expressions of Interest Sought for High Profile Speakers at a Seminar Series (Expired)
Expressions of interest are being sought for high profile speakers to present quality education seminar sessions as part of a seminar series being jointly organised by the Australian Embassy Thailand (AEI and AusTRADE) and IDP Education Australia. The sessions are being held concurrently with the IDP Interview Programme on 17 and 18 March 2007 at the Queen Sirikit Convention Centre.

Reminder - 2007 Australian Working Holiday Maker and ELICOS Exhibition (Expired)
ELICOS institutions are encouraged to take advantage of positive market conditions in Taiwan by attending Austrade’s 2007 Australian Working Holiday Maker and ELICOS Exhibition in Taipei on 19 May 2007.  Registrations close 31 January 2007.

Reminder - ExpoBELTA 2007 to be held 17 to 24 March - Early Bird Rate Extended (Expired)
The ExpoBELTA 2007 exhibition will be held from 17 to 24 March in four cities around Brazil. AEI Brazil will be working with the organisers to arrange and staff an Australian ‘island’. BELTA has extended the early bird booking rate to 31 January.

Call for Papers for Workshops and Presentations for ELME 07: International Conference and Exhibition for Education and Technology (Expired)
Themed ‘Innovative Solutions for Education and Training’ the Conference, to be held in Bahrain from 26 to 29 March 2007 invites papers, presentations, and workshop proposals on all aspects of eLearning, online training, technology-enhanced education, technology for schools and academic institutions management, and using technology to empower educators, faculty, and trainers. Submissions being accepted from academics, teachers, practitioners, vendors, technology providers, and government institutions.
