Prior to joining Australian Education International (AEI), Ms Liddicoat worked for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Corporate Planning and ICT Strategy and Business Planning policy areas. She has also worked at the Australian Embassy in Seoul as First Secretary (Political), in the Public Affairs Section of the Australian Embassy in Tokyo, where she managed a multi-million dollar whole-of-Government promotion. Ms Liddicoat has also been the Director of the Australia-Japan Foundation in Canberra.
Ms Liddicoat holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours First Class) from the University of Sydney and was awarded a Japanese Government Mombusho scholarship to study for one year at Nagoya University, Japan. She speaks Korean, Japanese and Arabic and co-authored a language textbook, Syrian Colloquial Arabic, a Functional Course, during a four-year stay in the Middle East.
The Australian Government established an education section in the Australian Embassy in Seoul in 1996, when Koreans primarily studied English-language courses in Australia. Over the last decade the Australian Government has helped raise the profile of Australian education through its government representation, marketing and promotion, student counselling, agent development, and support for Australian institutions. As a result, Korea is now the third largest source country (after China and India) for students across the full range of education sectors.
Korea continues to offer excellent opportunities for Australian institutions in all sectors. Ms Liddicoat leads a team of three education experts at the AEI Korea office, focused on strengthening government-to-government relations, providing strategic information to Australian providers about opportunities, and communicating 'great news stories' about Korean graduates to the broader community. |
